Do I need planning permission for my extension?

Whether you need planning permission for your extension depends on several factors, including its size, location, and impact on neighbouring properties. Some extensions fall under permitted development rights (PD), meaning you don’t need full planning permission. We can advise you on this and how best to proceed.

How much does a home extension cost?

The cost depends on factors such as size, scale, materials, design complexity and also location. If needed, we can help you obtain cost estimates before work begins to assist with budget planning.

How long does it take to build an extension?

The timeline depends on the scale of the project. A straightforward single-storey extension may take around 3-4 months, while a larger or two-storey extension could take 6-12 months. We can provide a project timeline at the outset to keep things on track.

Will an extension add value to my home?

Yes, a well-designed extension can increase your property’s value and make it more attractive to buyers. The potential increase depends on the type of extension and its impact on the home’s functionality. We ensure that designs enhance both your lifestyle and long-term investment potential.

Can you help with the design and planning process?

Yes! We offer a full service, from initial design and Planning applications to Building Control approval and sign-off if required. We work closely with local councils and contractors to ensure your extension is compliant with local Building Regulations and tailored to meet your needs. Would you like to discuss your extension plans? Get in touch, and we’ll be happy to guide you through the process!

Will I need to move out during construction?

In most cases, you won’t need to move out, as many extensions can be built while you remain in the home. However, if major structural work affects essential areas like the kitchen or bathroom, some temporary disruption is likely. We will discuss the logistics with you in advance and help minimise any inconvenience.

Remodelling and extended a derelict house is difficult enough…taking on a Listed Building was even more of a challenge!!! From day one nothing was a problem for DMA. From initial designs right through to completion David and his team were so professional, innovative, friendly and always there to assist and advise. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Thanks for helping us make our dream home a reality.

We are delighted to have worked with DMA. It was so important to us that the new-build blend in from day one, so the choice of external finish was critical, whilst the internal was to incorporate an unorthodox approach to wall and ceiling finishes. Optimising on natural light was also a key driver, which DMA amply delivered on, adopting an exposed, high ceiling, a large roof light and fanlights over glazed patio doors. That first moment we saw David’s 3D-renders, we just wanted it built.
